DART, Student Responders Undergo First Aid Training

Members of the Disaster Action Response Team (DART) and Health Services Unit–First Aiders took part in a First Aid Capacity Building and Enhancement Training on July 11, 2025, at the Davao de Oro State College Covered Court in Compostela, Davao de Oro.

 

Spearheaded by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit, the one-day training aimed to strengthen the skills, knowledge, and competencies of DDOSC personnel and student responders in disaster preparedness and emergency response.

The training was facilitated by personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office – Compostela Emergency Rescue Team (MDRRMO-CoERT), and focused on practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises in wound dressing and providing first aid to immobile casualties.

 

Trainers included Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) John Rey P. Buhia and Krisha Mary J. Gustilo, LPT, along with Genelyn Bibero, all of whom guided participants through key emergency procedures, emphasizing both accuracy and speed in life-saving interventions.

 

In her opening message, Administrative Services Division Director Janice C. Hermosilla underscored the importance of the activity in equipping the College’s emergency responders with essential first-response skills.

 

The activity is part of DDOSC’s ongoing commitment to institutional resilience and proactive disaster risk reduction.
