DDOSC Faculty Undergo Week-Long Retooling Program

In preparation for the opening of classes for Academic Year 2025–2026, faculty members of Davao de Oro State College are currently participating in the Faculty Retooling 2025, a college-wide development initiative held via hybrid modality from August 5 to 8, 2025.

Faculty members from the Main Campus convened at the DDOSC Activity Center in Compostela, while teaching personnel from the College’s external campuses joined remotely via Zoom.

Organized by the Academic Services Division, the retooling serves as an onboarding activity for newly hired instructors and a capacity-building program for existing faculty members. It aims to enhance professional competence in key areas such as outcomes-based education (OBE), research development, instructional leadership, and academic governance.

Among the experts serving as resource speakers for the retooling program are Dr. Ruby Serrano (Outcomes-based Instructional Approaches), Dr. Erick T. Baloran (Advancing Research Competency), and Dr. Porferia S. Poralan (Leadership Roles and Academic Governance).

The opening day featured presentations on the ISO-certified academic processes of DDOSC’s degree programs, followed by an orientation from the Human Resource and Management Unit, which familiarized participants with institutional policies and faculty expectations.

In his message, Dr. Pedro P. Raymunde, Jr., Director of the Academic Services Division, underscored the significance of the annual retooling:

“This retooling program is an affirmation of our commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service. As we prepare for another academic year, we must remain adaptable, well-informed, and aligned with both national and institutional standards.”

Currently, the College boasts a 272-strong teaching workforce across all campuses, with 124 stationed in the Main Campus and Laak Extension, 59 in Maragusan, 50 in Montevista, and 39 in New Bataan.

The Faculty Retooling 2025 is part of the College’s continuing efforts to foster a responsive and future-ready teaching force.
