PIU gathers DDOSC FB admins, writers for news, headline writing webinar

To strengthen the journalistic output of its affiliated social media pages, Davao de Oro State College, through its Public Information Unit (PIU), conducted a News and Headline Writing Webinar for DDOSC-linked Facebook page writers earlier today, October 17, 2025, via Zoom.

The online training gathered 89 participants from across all campuses, aiming to sharpen their skills in crafting clear, factual, and engaging news content for the College’s recognized Facebook pages.

PIU Head Khif Muamar M. Miranda served as the resource speaker, orienting the participants about the principles and characteristics of good news articles and headlines.

Additionally, he emphasized that concise and responsible writing contributes to the institution’s credibility and strengthens its online presence.
“As writers for DDOSC-linked pages, we should uphold ethical and accurate journalism, as every post and story we write represents the College,” Miranda stressed.

Participants took part in several interactive writing workshops, producing short news stories and headlines that were later reviewed and discussed.
Meanwhile, DDOSC President Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay, in her opening remarks, urged the DDOSC-linked Facebook page writers to always espouse responsible journalism and carry their role with pride and care.

The initiative is part of the institution’s activities in observance of Communications Month, which will culminate with the 1st Davao de Oro Students’ Press Summit to be hosted by DDOSC next week.
