DDOSC, Daffodil International University strengthen academic ties with online lecture

Davao de Oro State College and Daffodil International University (DIU) from Bangladesh came together via Zoom on October 21, 2025, for an online lecture on the latter’s efforts toward achieving its Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education.

Themed “Together for Tomorrow: Celebrating Cross-Border Collaboration for Global Sustainability,” the session marked DDOSC’s celebration of United Nations Month and reaffirmed its growing commitment to international partnership and global citizenship education through the Internationalization Unit (IZN), led by Karesha Faith Cardente-Cañetan.

Cañetan opened the event by emphasizing the role of collaboration as the lifeblood of global progress.

“When institutions unite across borders, we don’t just share knowledge, we shape the future,” she said, setting the tone for the dialogue that followed.

The lecture proper featured DIU Assistant Professor of Development Studies Rafi Al Mahmud and DDOSC Extension Services Division Director Dr. Jeson N. Geroche, who both delivered discussions on how education and community engagement drive sustainability.

Mahmud shared insights on Bangladesh’s Journey to SDG 4, offering a glimpse into his country’s experience in achieving inclusive and equitable education.

Meanwhile, Dr. Geroche discussed how DDOSC’s extension initiatives contribute to addressing global challenges through localized, sustainable community programs.

Capping the session, Syed Raihan-Ul-Islam, Deputy Director of DIU’s Office of International Affairs, lauded the collaboration as “a bridge between two nations, built on shared values and a shared vision for a sustainable world.”
