DDOSC, St. John’s U hold 1st COIL-GOLE session

Davao de Oro State College and St. John’s University successfully launched the first session of the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Global Online Learning Exchange (GOLE) program today October 31, 2025 via Zoom Teleconference.

Through COIL, students and professors from both institutions engage in collaborative online learning experiences that foster intercultural competence, global awareness, and academic partnership beyond borders.

First-year and second-year Bachelor of Elementary Education students from DDOSC joined sophomore students from St. John’s University, located in from New York City, United States of America, in the virtual exchange.

The online session featured DDOSC faculty members Karesha Faith C. Cañetan MAEd and Chirstine Joyce C. Sierte, MAEd; and Dr. Auriel R. Watson, who facilitated the first COIL session.

Meanwhile, SUC President Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Gloryjean C. Altamera expressed their full support for the initiative, a manifestation of DDOSC’s commitment to fostering global academic collaboration.

A total of 30 DDOSC students participated in the activity, with two more sessions scheduled in the coming weeks to complete the exchange series.
