DdOSC snags Agri overall crown in DAASI 2025
Proving their excellence in the field of agricultural education, the Davao de Oro State College contingent emerged as the overall champion in the Agriculture Category during the Deans Association of Agricultural Schools Inc. (DAASI) 2025 Student Regional Convention, held at the University of Southeastern Philippines–Tagum-Mabini Campus from November 6 to 8, 2025.
DdOSC’s victory was anchored on a strong series of first-place wins across major technical events.
Jennie Babe Apares reigned supreme in Weed Identification, Bernadette N. Jumamil dominated Insect Identification, and John Mar C. Eswagen clinched the championship in Disease Identification.
Meanwhile, Juvy W. Escabusa added another gold in Egg Weight, while the team of Princess Ann Dotosme, Ferly Udtohan, and Robert Bolonias from the Maragusan campus captured the Quiz Bowl crown.
Outside of the technical events, the DdOSC Parliamentary Rules and Procedure team, composed of Keybrent Zamora, Chelsea Kythe M. Vitor, Jonabel D. Batocan, Rheizyl P. Goc-ong, Julius Partosa, Queen Sofia C. Villanueva, and Jovim M. Tombo, also secured gold.
Adding grace and poise to the College’s victories, Cyril Tampos brought home the Ms. Kaunlaran title in the Mr. and Ms. DAASI pageant, along with multiple minor awards such as Ms. Photogenic, Korina Beauty Salon Choice Award, and the People’s Choice Award.
Rounding out the institution’s medal haul was Rowell Lombucan, who finished second place in Fertilizer Computation.
In a statement, DdOSC President Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay lauded the students and mentors for bringing pride to the College.
“Congratulations to our Agriculture Department! This victory reflects not only the competence of our Agriculture students but also the commitment of our faculty to nurture excellence, discipline, and innovation,” exclaimed Dr. Matunhay.
Hosted by the USeP-Mabini Unit, this year’s DAASI Convention gathered participants from 17 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) across the Davao Region that offer agriculture and related programs.
