Laboratory Unit organizes calibration seminar, training

Reinforcing its commitment to upholding precision, quality, and global standards in laboratory operations, Davao de Oro State College, through the Laboratory Unit led by Dr. Mary Dane R. Canadalla, conducted a Calibration Seminar and Training at the College Boardroom today, November 11, 2025.

The seminar, attended by laboratory in-charge, section heads, laboratory staff, and instructors across all branches, aimed to equip participants with a clear understanding of calibration principles while enhancing their capability to implement effective and standardized calibration systems.

Academic Services Division Director Dr. Pedro P. Raymunde, Jr. opened the activity, emphasizing the importance of calibration in maintaining the integrity of laboratory results and advancing scientific excellence within the College.

Serving as the resource speaker, Engr. Benjamin V. D. Estrellado, Jr., DOST XI’s Laboratory Head and Technical Manager of the Regional Metrology Laboratory, provided an in-depth discussion on calibration concepts, traceability, and measurement uncertainty.

He also guided participants on aligning institutional practices with international standards, including ISO 9001.

Laboratory Unit Head Dr. Mary Dane R. Canadalla delivered the closing remarks, underscoring calibration as more than a technical requirement but a strategic necessity in ensuring accuracy, reliability, and ethical innovation in both educational and operational settings.
