ESD personnel attend content writing, layout, newsletter training

Davao de Oro State College Extension Services Division personnel participated in a training-workshop on content writing, layout, and newsletter essentials on December 2, 2025, at the DDOSC Boardroom.

The activity gathered extension personnel from all branches to strengthen their skills in producing clear, engaging, and community-oriented communication materials.

The event was made possible through the collaboration with the Public Information Unit (PIU).

In his opening remarks, ESD Director Dr. Jeson N. Geroche highlighted the division’s need for meaningful storytelling in crafting effective public information materials, underscoring the saying “Walang kwento, walang kwenta” as a reminder of the value of purposeful communication.

The morning training session featured Khif Muamar Miranda, MEd-LT, PIU Head, who discussed key principles of effective social media writing. With light humor, he presented contextualized examples demonstrating how content can be made more engaging without compromising professionalism. “Know your audience. For Extension Services, it’s mainly the community,” he noted, reinforcing the importance of audience-centered messaging.

The afternoon session began with Ron Gerard A. Celada, LPT, Information Officer I, who focused on layout essentials. His discussion was anchored on the widely recognized design principles known as CRAP: Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity, offering practical tips that participants can apply in future posting materials.

In the third session, Christine Mae A. Sidayon, PIU staff, discussed the fundamentals of newsletter publication in preparation for the release of the division’s upcoming newsletter, SUD-ONG 2025. She covered key concepts and provided practical insights drawn from the 2024 issue of SUD-ONG.

The program concluded with an expression of gratitude to the three resource speakers through the awarding of certificates and tokens. April Rose Dianne A. Villaro, DBM, Extension Services Unit Head, closed the event on a high note by congratulating the participants and reiterating her thanks for the 21st century knowledge gained.
