CHR XI hails DdOSC as human rights partner-advocate

True to its core value of solidarity, Davao de Oro State College was named by the Commission on Human Rights Regional Office XI as a Center for Human Rights Education (CHRE) Partner during an awarding ceremony earlier today, December 4, 2025, at the Lispher Inn in Davao City.

On behalf of DdOSC President Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay, Administrative Services Division Director Janice C. Hermosilla received the award, which honors the College as a dedicated CHRE partner-advocate for the promotion and protection of human rights in the region.

DdOSC was among six CHRE institutions honored this year, alongside Davao Oriental State University, Davao del Sur State College, Davao del Norte State College, Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Aquatic School of Technology, and the University of Mindanao–Digos College.

The recognition coincides with the annual observance of the National Human Rights Consciousness Week Act of 2002, celebrated every December 4–10 to promote respect, awareness, and education on human rights nationwide.

In her message, President Dr. Matunhay reaffirmed the College’s commitment to advancing a culture of dignity, equality, and social justice across its campuses.

“DdOSC will continue to strengthen its academic, research, and community extension programs to uphold human rights and empower vulnerable communities in the province.”
