SUC PRESIDENT’S INTRODUCTION

On June 10, 2024, Davao de Oro State College welcomed its second President, Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay. With an illustrious career spanning over two decades, she brings a wealth of experience and visionary leadership as DDOSC navigates into the future.

President Matunhay is a graduate of Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Studies with an impressive track record in the academic and administrative fields. Prior to her journey at Davao de Oro State College (formerly Compostela Valley State College), Dr. Matunhay served as Assistant School Administrator of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) – Compostela Center for seven years and as a faculty member for 15 years at the same institution.

During her tenure as Assistant Professor at DDOSC, she held various key administrative roles, including Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Development, Acting Board Secretary, Branch Director of CVSC New Bataan Branch, and Chair of the DDOSC Research Ethics Committee. Appointed as the second College President on June 10, 2024, she succeeded Dr. Christie Jean V. Ganiera, CESE, the institution’s first president. Recognized for her exemplary and dedicated leadership, she was also elected President of the Faculty Federation and served as a member of the CVSC Board of Trustees from June 2015 to March 2018.

As an exemplary leader with a multifaceted role in the institution, she advanced her position as Chief of Administration and Finance of the College, in which she supervised the institution and ensured that it operated efficiently and sustainably from July 2021 until June 9, 2024.

Aside from being a respected leader and educator, President Matunhay is also a prolific researcher. She has been engaged actively in various research projects in a particular field. On the other hand, those scientific works have been published in reputable international journals and cited by multiple scientific works across the globe. This underscores the impact and relevance of her works in the global academic community.

As the President of Davao de Oro State College, Dr. Matunhay envisions and pledges that DDOSC for 2024 to 2028 with an acronym CRADLE: Cultivate a vibrant educational ecosystem, Research and Development (R&D) aligned with local, national, and global priorities, Advancement in governance and services, Diversification of production, Leadership Excellence and Empowerment of all stakeholders. This drives academic excellence, innovation, and societal impact, making DDOSC proactive.
