Pres. Matunhay joins nat’l higher education summit

Davao de Oro State College President, Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay, participated in the Higher Education Summit 2026 on March 10–12, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center, Clark, Pampanga.

The three-day summit, themed “ACHIEVING Sustainable Futures: Transformative Higher Education for Human Capital, Innovation, and Global Responsibility,” convened academic leaders of Philippine higher education institutions to discuss strategies that strengthen the country’s higher education sector amid evolving global challenges.

Led by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, the event brought together presidents and academic leaders from state universities and colleges (SUCs) nationwide.

Joined by fellow SUC Presidents across Davao Region: Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa of Davao del Norte State College, Dr. Augie E. Fuentes of Davao del Sur State College President, Davao Oriental State University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce, Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology President Dr. Lynette A. Bontia, and University of Southeastern Philippines President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr.

The event unveiled the ACHIEVE Agenda, outlining its vision, strategic pillars, and implementation pathways to build future-ready HEIs.

As part of the initiative, the summit also featured discussions on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within higher education to foster collaboration among institutions and promote evidence-based policymaking across the sector.

Dr. Matunhay’s participation reflects DdOSC’s commitment to actively engage in national conversations that shape innovative, responsible, and globally responsive higher education
