DDOSC Laak Breaks Ground on ₱250M Infrastructure Project

Davao de Oro State College marked another milestone as it held the ceremonial groundbreaking for a ₱250 million infrastructure project on July 1, 2025, at the DDOSC Main–Laak Extension Class in Laak, Davao de Oro.
The landmark project will involve the construction of 11 state-of-the-art buildings, designed to boost enrollment, accommodate new academic programs, and pave the way for the Laak Extension to become a full-fledged branch of the College.
Leading the ceremony were key figures in local governance and higher education, including DDOSC President Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay, Davao de Oro 1st District Representative Hon. Maria Carmen S. Zamora-Mabanglo, and Laak Mayor Hon. Mark Anthony Libuangan.
Also in attendance were Vice Mayor Hon. Antonio Libuangan, CHED XI Supervisor II Dr. Lourdes D. Cesar, DPWH XI Engineer II Engr. Teofilo Gaje, and Executive Assistant Al-Fajad Magundang, representing 2nd District Representative Hon. Leonel Ceniza.
In her message, Dr. Matunhay expressed gratitude to the officials and stakeholders who championed the vision of expanding access to quality higher education in Laak.
“With everyone’s help and with tireless dedication, this infrastructure project will become the beacon of progress for Laak and the entire DDOSC community,” said Dr. Matunhay.
Hon. Zamora-Mabanglo, fondly known as the “Queen Mother of DDOSC,” reaffirmed her commitment to the College’s continued growth and reflected on its remarkable transformation from humble beginnings.
She also called on local officials to support DDOSC Laak’s development into a leading educational hub in the municipality by actively encouraging student enrollment.
Meanwhile, Mayor “Honeyboy” Libuangan emphasized that the project underwent several technical revisions and consultations to ensure compliance with structural standards and to provide top-tier facilities for students.
The event was also graced by Laak municipal officials, DDOSC faculty and staff, students, and members of the community.
In partnership with DPWH XI, the construction is a joint venture among Starbuilders Construction Corp., AVECS Corp., and Rossbill Construction Supply.
