The Turret scribes triumph at JournCamp+ Nat’l Press Summit

Demonstrating journalistic excellence on the national stage, two student journalists from The Turret, the official student publication of Davao de Oro State College (DdOSC), earned top honors at the recently concluded JournCamp+ National Campus Press Summit 2025.

Leading the DdOSC delegation, Christian C. Sambalod clinched a double win after placing 5th in Editorial Writing and 8th in Column Writing, besting fellow campus journalists from tertiary institutions nationwide.

Charlotte L. Bucol likewise brought pride to the College after securing 7th place in Editorial Cartooning, marking another strong showing for The Turret in the national competition.

The JournCamp+ National Campus Press Summit 2025, held from November 23 to December 13, gathered student journalists from across the Philippines for a series of lectures, workshops, and competitive events aimed at honing journalistic skills and strengthening campus press freedom.

The Turret adviser, Given Mark B. Inansugan, lauded the duo for their discipline, dedication, and commitment to responsible journalism, leading to the recognition.

Meanwhile, DdOSC President Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay also extended her congratulations, noting that the students’ success reflects both their individual efforts and the continued growth and strength of campus journalism at DdOSC.
