DDOSC extensionists present research at IMREC 2024

Eight faculty and staff extensionists from Davao de Oro State College (DDOSC) presented their research-based extension programs at the International Multidisciplinary Research-based Extension Conference (IMREC 2024) held on October 15-18, 2024, at the Development Academy of the Philippines in Tagaytay City.

With the theme “Empowering Communities Through Innovative Extension Practices: Bridging Gaps, Transforming Lives, Inspiring Change,” the conference highlighted research-backed extension services from higher education institutions worldwide.

Representing DDOSC at the four-day event were:

  • Dr. Rona C. Apolinario: “PROJECT CEST-GIDA: Community Empowerment Through Science And Technology In Geographically Isolated And Disadvantaged Areas”
  • Jerson M. Renegado: “Medical Mission with Recreational Activities for Indigenous People Community”
  • Jeson N. Geroche: “Enhancing Farm Productivity and Sustainability through Palayamanan Plus: A Comprehensive Approach in Lowland Farms of Compostela, Davao de Oro”
  • Sharmine Faith A. Mahumas: “Entrep Extends: A Financial Sustainability Project”
  • Dr. April Rose Dianne A. Villaro: “Training on Intricate Designing and Basic Use and Troubleshooting of Sewing Machines for Indigenous Women”
  • Sarah O. Cabahit: “Project COAL: Community Outreach and Alternative Livelihood”
  • Sarah Jean A. Gerundio: “Darrden Collaborative Projects: Gulayan, Itikan, and Palaisdaan sa Pamantasan”
  • Lee M. Serot: “Project ALFPA: Alternative Livelihood for Flood-Prone Areas”

Dr. Apolinario also served as a board judge for IMREC, while DDOSC President Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay participated in the Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and the launch of the National Higher Education Extension Consortium.

IMREC 2024 was organized by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in collaboration with DDOSC, Batanes State College (BSC), Ifugao State University (IFSU), and Bohol Island State University (BISU).

 

The conference brought together researchers, experts, and extensionists to present research, showcase best practices, and establish a network of extension implementers at national and international levels.
