Commission on Higher Education Commissioner Hon. Myrna Q. Mallari visited two campuses of Davao de Oro State College on September 8–9, 2026, to personally engage with students, faculty, staff, and members of the DdOSC Board of Trustees.

Following her arrival on September 8, Hon. Mallari proceeded to the DdOSC New Bataan Branch, where she toured the campus and inspected its facilities and operations.

She also conducted a meet-and-greet with students and faculty members, during which she acknowledged the need for urgent support for the branch’s existing facilities.

Additionally, she raised the possibility of adopting more flexible modes of instructional delivery, particularly as the campus continues to contend with extreme heat conditions and limitations in classroom facilities.

During the engagement, Hon. Mallari likewise expressed strong support for DdOSC’s continued growth and development as a leading higher education institution in the region and in the country.

The second day of her visit centered on the 54th (2nd Quarter) Regular Meeting of the DdOSC Board of Trustees, which she presided over at the Main Campus Boardroom.

Present during the meeting were DdOSC President and BOT Vice Chairperson Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay; Dr. Ruwina S. Gonzaga, representing Sen. Emmanuel Joel Villanueva; Rep. Maria Carmen S. Zamora, representing Rep. Jude A. Acidre; Department of Economy, Planning, and Development XI Regional Director Priscilla R. Sonido; Private Sector Representative Dr. Debbie G. Teruel; DdOSC Faculty Association President Riesha P. Vale; and DdOSC Alumni Federation President Jasper T. Egpit.

Meanwhile, Department of Science and Technology XI Regional Director Anthony C. Sales joined the meeting virtually.

During the proceedings, Hon. Mallari also administered the oath of office to DdOSC Student Federation President Arjery M. Torrebillas as a member of the Governing Board.

Dr. Matunhay thanked Hon. Mallari for her two-day visit, noting that it gave the Commissioner a firsthand view of the College’s current conditions, priorities, and development needs, while also providing members of the DdOSC community an opportunity to engage directly with the Chairperson of the BOT.
