DdOSC co-hosts IMREC 2025; extensionists present studies

Davao de Oro State College, through its Extension Services Division (ESD), participated in the 3rd International Multidisciplinary Research-Based Extension Conference (IMREC) 2025, which opened on November 19, 2025, at the MetroCentre Hotel in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Organized by the National Higher Education Extensionists Consortium (NHEEC) and co-organized by CVAARRDEC, the event brings together six-member institutions, including Davao de Oro State College.

Hosted by Bohol Island State University, through its Office of the Vice-President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, the conference carries the theme, “Rooted in Service, Rising in Impact: Reimagining Extension for Local Solutions to Global Challenges.”

It aims to foster multidisciplinary collaboration and advance sustainable development goals by aligning research and extension initiatives with pressing local and global issues.

Moreover, the conference gathers extensionists, researchers, and practitioners from across the country to advance research-based community development initiatives.

For its part, DdOSC is honored to participate with a strong delegation composed of eight paper presenters, two participants from the Extension Services Division, and two members of the Board of Judges from the ESD.

The Board of Judges included ESD Director Dr. Jeson N. Geroche and Dr. April Rose Dianne A. Villaro.
The college’s eight extensionists with accepted papers featured in the conference are Arnel T. Serentas, MAEd; Jeffrey Z. Mata, MAEd; Jerson M. Renegado, MAEE; Jeson N. Geroche, R.Agr., PhD; Juliet Tilan-Cervantes, MAEd; Marianne Runas-Mata, PhD; Nick Alvin G. Asidoy, MExEd; and Rieshia P. Vale, MAEd.

On Day 1, four simultaneous pocket sessions highlighted parallel paper presentations, meanwhile, Day 2 hosted keynote addresses by CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis and former Commissioner Prof. Lilian A. de las Llagas.

Additionally, plenary talks included “Quality Assurance in Extension” by BISU President Dr. Anthony M. Penaso and “International Funding Strategies for Community Development Initiatives” by Universiti Teknologi Petronas Associate Professor Dr. Noridah B. Osman, from Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the third and fourth days featured parallel paper presentations and extension site visits, giving participants the opportunity to observe and actively engage with community-based projects firsthand.
