DdOSC, PSA seal pact to boost LGU data skills
Davao de Oro State College and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) sealed a landmark partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to strengthen the statistical capabilities of local government units (LGUs) today, April 6, 2026, at the ComVal Hotel, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.
The MOA centers on the conduct of a three-day Training on Basic Statistics aimed at enhancing data collection, analysis, and evidence-based planning among LGU participants.
In his opening remarks, Chief Statistical Specialist Abraham Enrico E. Gulay Jr. of the PSA Davao de Oro Provincial Statistical Office underscored the importance of data-driven decision-making in achieving inclusive and sustainable development.
Meanwhile, DdOSC President Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay expressed the college’s strong commitment to academic extension and nation-building, emphasizing the institution’s role in providing technical expertise and research-driven support to government initiatives.
Also present during the event was Baby Jean P. Alid, OIC Regional Director of the PSA Regional Statistical Services Office XI, who reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to strengthening partnerships with state universities and colleges.
Representing DdOSC, Vice President for Academic Affairs Gloryjean C. Altamera also attended the event, along with faculty members.
Under the partnership, PSA will lead coordination, logistics, and overall implementation of the training, while DdOSC will mobilize faculty experts to deliver lectures, facilitate hands-on sessions, and provide technical support.
The initiative also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly on quality education, decent work and economic growth, and partnerships for development, while upholding gender and development principles in all training activities.
With this collaboration, PSA and DdOSC aim to equip LGUs with essential statistical competencies paving the way for more responsive governance and data-informed local development.
