CEST Project 2025 trains New Leyte NHS studs on livelihood management

The Extension Services Division of Davao de Oro State College conducted the “Training on Costing, Marketing, and Financial Management” on June 15, 2026, at New Leyte National High School, Maco, Davao de Oro. The activity was implemented under the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Project 2025, aimed at strengthening the entrepreneurial and financial management capabilities of project beneficiaries, particularly the students of New Leyte National High School.

Prior to the conduct of the training proper, a turnover of one (1) unit of Flat Screen LED TV was facilitated as part of the project’s initiative to enhance learning and institutional support for the beneficiary community. The turnover activity was attended by Ms. Grace A. Ricardo, Senior Science Research Specialist of PSTO Davao de Oro, Mr. Jerson M. Renegado, Project Leader of Project CEST 2025, Mr. Eric Joshua D. Ballesteros, and Ms. Jonalyn N. Tordillo, together with representatives from the partner institution.

The program formally commenced with the opening remarks delivered by Ms. Grace A. Ricardo, Senior Science Research Specialist of PSTO Davao de Oro, who emphasized the importance of capacity-building initiatives in empowering communities through science and technology. This was followed by the presentation of the training rationale by Mr. Jerson M. Renegado, who highlighted the objectives of the activity in supporting sustainable livelihood development.

The introduction of the resource person was facilitated by Ms. Jonalyn N. Tordillo, MBA, who formally introduced the resource speaker for the training. The training proper was led by Ms. April Rose Dianne A. Villaro, DBM, Head of the Extension Services Unit, who discussed essential concepts and practical applications on costing, marketing strategies, and financial management.

Participants gained valuable insights into proper costing techniques, effective marketing approaches, and sound financial practices essential for improving livelihood operations. The discussions provided practical strategies to support informed decision-making, enhance enterprise management, and promote sustainability among beneficiaries.

The activity was also graced by Mr. Roel N. Ellaga, School Head of New Leyte National High School, who expressed support for the initiative and welcomed the conduct of the training at the institution. The program was facilitated by Ms. Lady Belle C. Aspacio, Master of Ceremonies, who ensured the smooth flow of the proceedings.

Through the CEST Project 2025, DdOSC continues to implement science-based extension interventions that empower communities and promote sustainable livelihood development.
