Dr. Matunhay attends Volunteerism Summit
Davao de Oro State College President Dr. Lilybeth M. Matunhay joined other volunteerism champions during the Volunteerism Focal Point System (VFPS) Summit held on December 3 to 5, 2025, in Iloilo City.
Anchored on the theme “From Collaboration to Impact: Driving Sustainable Development through Stronger Partnerships in Volunteerism,” the summit convened volunteerism advocates from government agencies, CSOs, HEIs, and local communities to reinforce the role of collective action in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
The three-day gathering opened with the NVM Kickoff Ceremony at Ann Margaret Hall, Diversion 21 Hotel, featuring a keynote address by Department of Budget and Management Undersecretary Goddes Hope O. Libiran, who emphasized the importance of strategic engagement in volunteer-driven development.
Summit delegates later participated in the KABALAKA City Tour, which showcased Iloilo City’s community-based volunteer initiatives and highlighted localized approaches to disaster readiness, environmental stewardship, and public service.
Meanwhile, Day 2 focused on a series of plenary and breakout sessions, where Dr. Matunhay presented DdOSC’s volunteerism best practices at the University of San Agustin.
Dr. Matunhay also met with PNVSCA Executive Director Donald James D. Gawe, CESO III, to explore potential collaboration opportunities for DdOSC’s expanding volunteerism initiatives.
The summit capped with the commemoration of International Volunteer Day, followed by plenary discussions and a talk show which highlighted the transformative contributions of volunteer workers in nation-building.
